Everything is ready for the launch event of Play Alghero, the game system developed within the framework of the European project MED GAIMS, GAmifIcation for Memorable tourist experienceS, funded by the European Union within the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme with a contribution of 2.1 million euros. Fondazione Alghero is one of the partners in the project, which involves six other organisations in Lebanon, Spain and Jordan.
The event will take place on 25th and 26 th June for two days dedicated to the presentation of game experiences inspired by the city cultural heritage: ten analog and digital games realised through the valuable contribution of experts in the sector, start-ups, young cultural enterprises, the Department of Architecture of the University of Sassari, and active citizenship, also with the aim of encouraging and supporting the development of social innovation initiatives and the creation of new job opportunities in the field of game design related to tourism and culture.
It will begin on Saturday 25 th at 10 a.m. at Lo Quarter Conference Room with a public meeting in which gaming experts, tourists and cultural operators, architects, urban planners and designers, starting from the results of the project, will reflect on the importance of transforming monuments into an experience of play and fun, of interaction with the history and identity of the city, of discovery through new, more dynamic and engaging ways of its museum, natural, craft and cultural heritage.
Parteciperanno al dibattito anche esperti di gaming a livello nazionale e internazionale, come il game designer Fabio Viola e i protagonisti di iniziative simili a quella promossa da Alghero, come il Direttore Artistico del Play Modena Festival Andrea Ligabue, esperienze regionali come quella dello spin-off Tamalacà con Elisa Ghisu, il contributo dei partner internazionali del progetto da Libano, Spagna e Giordania con la moderazione di Edoardo Colombo, esperto di innovazione e trasformazione digitale in campo turistico.

The event, open to high school and university students, teachers, cultural operators and managers of cultural and tourist sites, will be attended by project partners, representatives of the ENI CBC MED 2014-2020 programme, game designers and experts in the field.
